2017 BMW M5

No matter how negatively you are facing the all-wheel drive in series sedans, and how little safety-relevant an all-wheel drive is, because it does not contribute to a successful braking, there are vehicles, for which it is simply useful. How else should 441 kW (600 hp) or even more important, 750 Nm come from the wheels to the road-surface?

It is rather the reverse, that without an all-wheel drive such an enormous performance for a car would not be useful, because it would have to be slowed down electronically several times. Even at the optional top speed of 305 km/h of this sedan, you can see that the car without this option is obviously 'braked' at 250 km/h.

And despite the bonnet made of aluminum and the roof of carbon, the car has, together with the all-wheel drive, so many extras and, above all, strengthening of the body that it weighs nearly 2 tons, including the driver. And this despite the compound braking system, in which the brake disc is facilitated by various ventilation and is only connected to the aluminum pot via stainless steel pins. Carbon would bring another amazing 23 kilos.

In earlier times, one could rely on that a V-engine with two (or two by two) tailpipes left and they were separated from each cylinder side. But BMW speaks of a twin-turbo-technology with combined cylinder exhaust gas manifolds. We have also become accustomed to the fact that in new cars first the high-priced variants are offered, but here it is a 'First Edition' with a unique color 'Frozen Dark Red Metallic' for around 20,000 euros, so that everyone can see it forever. 08/17

By the way, the matte metallic colors are all 'frozen'.
