It was the time when safety became an issue. In line with this was the introduction of a convertible with roll bar, Porsche called this concept 'Targa'. In addition, it was cheaper, because the bodywork differed less from the basis. The firm Baur used this open form for a whole range of vehicles. These cars found its way, even though true believers in convertibles never fully accepted them. This 1973 model had the roll bar painted in the colour of the car, later on it was covered with imitation leather. Due to the roll bar several stages of open driving were possible, because it was possible to remove the steady roof part and/or the rear folding top.
