They remember their own history. Take a look at the tripartite strip between the radiator grille and the bonnet. Although without any function, it is to remember the legendary quattro of 1980. Do not be deceived by the pictures, because the design of the S-Line is shown. Neither the LED headlamps, nor e.g. the expensive air intakes/panels at the bottom left and right, nor the grille in 'Black Package' version are standard. But, as shown here, it seems to be the most attractive according to the opinion of the designers.

The new model has just in conjunction with bronze exterior painted rims and the black roof a special, compared to its predecessor also adult-looking appeal. However, the two-color paint job was already available before. Also, the rear diffuser is not standard. Probably, that neither a part of the exhaust system nor any fake version of it can be seen, only with the strongest petrol engine.

Inside you can repeat the colors chosen outside in borderlines (picture above). At the same time, similar to the upper class, a large number of selectable colors for the ambient lighting exists. The display has in any case to be a digital one. However, the good old handbrake has not yet been rationalized away. Depending on the version, there are two different touchscreens, cleverly fitted into the dashboard despite the inclination to the driver's side and, together with the voice input, also suitable as an alternative input: painting letters.

After eight years, there is the second-generation A1, now sold over 830,000 times. Unfortunately, like the Polo, the two-door car is a casualty of budgetary stringency. Therefore, all A1 now carry the addition 'Sportback'. About Diesel engines, as in the Polo still possible, you hear at the moment, of course, little to nothing. 06/18
