Alfa Giulia

A new Giulia has been presented in the newly restored Museo Storico in Arese near Milan, exactly 105 years after the founding of Alfa (Romeo it was only later). Its competition for, e.g. the BMW 3 Series is unmistakable. It should increase the global vehicle output to 400,000, what would increase the expected figures of 2015 by 470 percent.

The Giulia is first presented with the most powerful engine probably, surprisingly for a new development with rear-wheel drive. Suitable to that the tyre equipment (see above). One assumes even a weight distribution of 50 to 50. Later the car then comes with cheaper and more fuel-efficient engines. A price of less than 30,000 euros will not be to realise with the versions shown so far.

It will be interesting whether the Kombi follows rapidly, probably an SUV in any case. Down in the second video you can experience the Giulia compared to a tracking Seat Cupra. Quite as necessary as the proponents often wanted us to believe, the rear-wheel drive is probably not in this class. But it is about prestige, what shall be generated also by the mention of Ferrari as engine supplier for this version.

The front design started with the Alfa 156 has been further developed skillfully in this case. Beautiful and exceptionally briefly summarised are in the press release to the Giulia the virtues of Italian design: 'feeling for proportions, simplicity and a high quality of the surfaces'. Modern is added the use of aluminum and carbon particularly for the cardan shaft, the roof and the front bonnet. 09/15
