This car was exemplary in terms of design. Together with the 156, these cars boosted the career of its chief designer, Walter de Silva. He managed to climb the top of Audi.
The 147 is not a large car. Its design features:
- a front with typical airscoops and memories of the glorious past,
- rear doors with hidden handles that keep the design of the two-doors body intact for the four-doors variant,
- a boot-lid with lowered window in the center,
- a side view which neither resembles a hatchback nor a notchback,
- a height-width proportion that looks sporty, yet does not ask too much of its passengers in terms of space.
