Suspension (below view)

Solution

The above figure allows a look at a partially cleared vehicle from underneath. The complete drive-chain, exhaust system, tank, brake lines and rear springs have been removed. Instead, e.g., the wheel suspension can easily be recognised. In the front, a McPherson strut can be seen from underneath, at the rear, a trailing arm suspension. In the front, both lower wishbones are fastened firmly to the cross beam. The stabilizer is mounted close to the cross beam. The trailing arms to the rear wheels, are actually called a twist beam rear axle. The, in itself, slightly twistable axle leads the trailing arms and substitutes - at least in the basic models - for the stabiliser. Springs and shock absorbers are separately mounted to allow small wheel housings. 06/09
