Brake Electric Brake

German version

Electrical brakes do not submit their actuating force hydraulically. The brake pedal pressure is submitted as electrical signal to the control unit and the control unit determines - after having taken into account the information of all the sensors - the braking power. For the electrical brake it is necessary to change to a 42 V electrical circuit. Although not obligatory, the head of the brake is manufactured from stainless steel and the brake disc is reinforced with carbon fiber. The electric brake is not yet suitable for mass production, because of its high price, and the fact that the demanding production causes a lot of scrap. In comparison with the disk brake it has half the weight, reducing the non springy masses considerably. The electric brake lasts the life of a vehicle, has a 25 per cent improved friction surface, uses fewer brake pads and does not suffer from fading.
