It goes without saying, that an anti-theft alarm system should prevent the possible theft of the vehicle. It should draw attention to an attempted theft acoustically and optically. In some newer models it can also send out a message and, with a permanent signal, show ist momentary location. At least in these systems, they are also effective when the battery has been disconnected.

Function

The control device must know whether or not the anti-theft warning is required. It is an unpleasant experience if the alarm goes off when the owner or legal user tries to enter the car. The equipment is activated by a key-operated switch on both front doors when all the remaining larger openings (e.g., sunroof) are closed. This is evident through a flashing LED. Systems without keys can switch themselves on automatically if the legal user moves a certain distance away from the vehicle. Of course, the anti-theft alarm system works very closely together with the locking system and the immobiliser system. 05/10
