Having the same appearance, the two filters can be installed parallel and in series. In the case of a serial installation, they could also be called stage filters, which indicates a preliminary coarse- and a secondary fine filter. More often however, the parallel installation is used which supplies sufficient fuel to diesel engines with a high fuel consumption. In this case both filter elements are identical. Thus, the two types of filter differ only in the flow channels in the lid. 05/10
