Electric Brake Booster 1



A braking system has since ESP the ability of independent operation without driver intervention. Simultaneously, the amplification of the braking force became always more complicated. The vacuum pump is already known from the diesel engine. But there were then more and more vehicles with too little or too much constant negative pressure.

With the introduction of e-gas the negative pressure brake booster had to fear for its regular place, but at the latest when vehicles roll with the engine stopped. Of course you can stay with the vacuum pump and drive them electrically.

Meanwhile, the brake booster received another one pedal value sensor and the rear brake an electric actuation e.g. for hill starts. But nothing helped, with the introduction of recuperation, it became difficult. The driver should preferably not notice the transition from the recuperation to real braking.

And here the electric brake booster is really at an advantage because it provides volume compensation. Thus, there is no empty run between the two phases. The brake can be evenly dosed from zero up to the maximum braking force* at the pedal. One needs no longer negative pressure.

You already notice the advantage for pure electric vehicles. The company Bosch here speaks from actually triple redundancy. Because in addition to the electrical amplification or automatically actuating the mechanics remains intact. And then furthermore ESP is still present. For one thing, the unit shown in the figure above can not do, braking individual wheels selectively. 09/15
