With 'heart pain' and 'cruel fate' overwrites Toyota the report of the 24 hours of Le Mans. The very beginning of the race was the first time in history probably only possible with safety car. Very early the defective turbocharger of the leading Audi R18 forces a longer pit stop.

The second Audi remains near the top group even during the night. One of the two Porsche 919 Hybride in the group failed because of a broken water pump and the consequences. The only remaining second Porsche, faster than the Toyota, but handicapped by slight defects and one round less to refuel.

During the whole race the two TS050 Hybride share leadership responsibilities and all the teams are expecting them to win, as one of them has to curb its ambitions due a nine-minute repair. Then the drama: Staff at the box holds its breath as the other Toyota in the last lap suddenly almost stops.

To a full halt it comes just down the home straight. And when it is yet again motivated to move it's too late, it falls out of the ranking because of the too slow last lap. So wins Porsche, Toyota's second and even Audi in this order. Even the Porsche team shows compassion with the competitors from Cologne because of this incredible bad luck. 06/16
