Plunger Main Brake Cylinder

The above question can only be answered with a clear 'yes'. In the picture below you may recognize the familiar basic construction of a tandem master brake cylinder, but more compact and with fewer parts. There are also less production processes needed.

Let's start with the connections to the brake fluid reservoir. Here only one bore for each circuit is required. In the drawing below, the two can be seen, each of which is arranged in annular grooves of the cylinder. In addition, in each case a small groove can be seen on the piston, a bypass of the primary sealing ring.

Both pistons have only very short paths for closing this supply ports. They build up pressure when the piston rod moves slightly. Typical for this arrangement of the former cuffs is the same position sooner and now. The sealing rings in the cylinder have the same number and tasks.

Diameters of 14,29 - 38,1 mm are possible.

It remains retracting of the left piston into the basic positionbeing connected to the right one in the case of reversion. Also a (not shown here) central valve in combination with ABS is possible. Only the dimensions and possible movements of the pistons are optimized. 10/16

Advantages Plunger main brake cylinder
Immediate pressure build-up
Less volume in the system
Less brake circuit pressure difference
Less wear on the seals
Less components in total
Easier to manufacture
Reduced installation space required
Low weight
