Non-coaxial gearbox

The gearbox is driven through the input shaft (above left) by the engine. Depending on the engaged forward gear, two gear wheels are involved. In the case of the reverse gear (numbers 11 and 12), an intermediate
gear (idler) is added, indeed, it has no meaning as far as the calculation is concerned. This is then directed to the axle-drive (bottom left), through a crown-wheel or bevel-gear.
