Transistor (wiring diagram)

Function

The control current of a transistor always has to limited by a bias resistor. In a 12 V system it must have at least 1 k/Ohm. In both circuits the consumers are located on the collector side. On the emitter side, both the control- and the working current flow. On the left the PNP-transistor switches the circuit which, with a negative earth, becomes conductive. On the right the control is taken over by a NPN-transistor, in this case, the earth must be connected, through the bias resistor, to plus. 03/12
