LIN-Bus 2

A window lifter can be operated by the switch on the door itself but not from the switch of driver's door. So the fault lies somewhere in the area of the switch and not the operating motor. You can relatively easily remove the switch and check it.

Here five rather than the usual three switch positions are possible with the zero position in the middle. On one side of the window is lowered, lifted by the other. There are two operation modes, briefly move and drive to the end position.

But the switch does not operate the window motor directly. It would lead to lots of cabling and be complicated when there is one switch on 'Open' and the other on 'Close' position. Therefore the switch is connected to a control unit near the window motor sending it a different resistance value for each postion that can be easily checked. If there is no failure, there is one in the cable to the door controller or this itself.

In case of malfunction of the entire system have a look at the signal itself. The scope line is permanently at 12-14 V means short circuit to positive, if permanently at 0 to 1 V a short circuit to ground. If the signal is present, but doesn't reach the final values, you have to search for a contact resistance. By the way the system can compensate 20 percent loss above or below. 07/16
