Kfz-tech.de is a website, which currently contains more than 15,000 pages and has been in existence since August 2001. With 'cartecc.com' (cartechnology compendium), there is a second
domain name, mainly covering the pages in English and Spanish language. Of course, all three parts of the site are closely interlinked.
Kfz-tech.de essentially consists of three parts: - pure technical contents (library), - detailed testing of
this knowledge, - manufacturer current and historical.
Most important of each page is the image, usually with 600 x 450 pixels of size. Almost all images can be enlarged by a simple click in two steps, so that in the highest resolution usually at least 1.800 x 1.352 pixels
are available. Also very often there is more than one picture per page. In total, they add up to over 80,000, although the partial triple resolution has to be taken into account.
The overwhelming number of pages contains videos or their embedding. Sometimes, however, subtitling adapted to the language is necessary. The texts should correspond to current technical
knowledge, but be so comprehensible that they can also be understood by laymen, too. Subject terms, if necessary, are explained in the next possible place.
The library pages . . .
We attach great importance to a relationship of the state of the art to earlier times. The development can usually be traced continuously. The beginning of a particular technological development is important because
individual steps to the present state are then easier to be followed and the actual state can be understood better.
There are a lot of pages dealing with the historical development of automotive technology, including the history
of the motor vehicle with over 200 annual figures and corresponding entries. In addition, partial regions, e.g. the
electronic gasoline injection are considered historically. All this refers to the library pages. The history of manufacturers and suppliers is to be viewed separately and much more extensive.
Larger complexes, such as the development of the production of oil are also treated separately from summaries in several
connected sides. The principle is also used in the description of technical contexts, e.g. at the crankshaft. By listing the
successive pages they are apparend in the table of contents.
The table of contents, on the left, summarizes larger units of vehicle technology, presents all existing pages in a meaningful order in this context. The user has an overview of the abundance of the available material.
However, in this way, e.g. about 6,000 German sites are managed, most of which are translated into English language.
Test of existing/acquired vehicle knowledge
Below the table of contents are usually links to Tests. A total of 13,000 are currently available, mostly programmed tasks. Usually there are
four answers to choose. The formulation of the wrong answers is taken very seriously because they must be both sensible and unambiguous to the user at the same time.
But there are also sentences texts with word gaps. Again, different answers and sometimes several words are possible. But an even more error-tolerant input is missing, this task type is limited to the input of
individual words, usually technical terms. Of course, the evaluation of each individual task as well as the task packs usually bundled to 20 tasks are displayed to the user.
The percentage achieved shows the relationship to all tasks to be processed. This means that they can only remain constant from one task to the next. For example, if the first task is successfully solved, not 100
percent appeared as result but even less, being raised with more correct answers. That is good for the motivation.
It should be remembered that users perform these tasks voluntarily, their motivation is almost more important than in school surroundings. Therefore, everything has priority, which supports them. It is indispensable

The manufacturer/supplier pages . . .
In the future, we are probably the most likely to pick up the normal driver(s). Lastly, we changed the main pages of the individual manufacturers. These now consist of more pictures and videos than information (sample). Further clicks usually bring much more recognition about the respective brand. Since he finds among the most important

dictionaries. More than 20,000 word pairs, which are continually updated, are available here, for example, in English with the second letters ("Ab" or "Ac").
And whoever wants to test his knowledge of the English subject is special exercises "Tests/Test" are available. In addition, it can also be queried
individually with regard to approximately 750 x 20 words per direction. It is also important to offer the somewhat more demanding visitor something that could be attested by many inquiries from the university.
Embedded in the Internet world . . .
This starts quite harmlessly with the many emails, which request a copyright release of certain pictures for a diploma or doctoral thesis. If you search for traces of kfz-tech.de in the Internet, you often find tasks of
certain professors who recommend their students to get the appropriate knowledge at "kfz-tech.de".
It is no wonder that when typing "kfz-tech.de" (with hyphen) usually more than 30,000 entries are common. We are also well placed on Google, often in second or third place, sometimes even in front of Wikipedia. And
all this without having ever paid a cent to Google.
In the last one and a half years we were able to score points at youtube. Almost 1,000 videos have been uploaded. They have been clicked far more than a million times. We now have over 200 subscribers.
A special delicacy ...
We greatly underestimated the effect of our collection by the autumn of this year. It was only when we were ready to analyze the logs of the provider a bit more precisely, did we realize how strongly they were involved in
