Daylight +

My first reaction to the topic: Who lights the interior at night, perceives less of the illuminated street. Obviously not, otherwise Mercedes would not make so expensive attempts in the far north. The eight (!) test drivers were supposedly very satisfied.

Let us assume that the illumination of the driver's cab is specifically designed for this purpose and, of course, the best possible driving light is currently being used. Furthermore, the cabin is also lit during the day, of course always depending on the brightness outside, during the breaks on the driver's seat even deliberately intense.

As a special feature, the so-called 'Daylight +' has a wavelength of 460 to 490 nanometers. Supposedly light is so closely linked to our biology that we unconsciously set our inner clock after it. A very well-known phenomenon is e.g. the significantly increased suicide rate in winter in nordic countries. There is even a light therapy as an antidote.

Look at the cabling of the test drivers (EEG * and EOG **). Even saliva samples have been done. In addition, the FleetBoard telematics system reported that under the influence of Daylight+ the driving style was more economically. Each test driver had a week with and one without this special feature. It is interesting that the better perceived size of the cabin is an additional advantage. 03/17
