Are low installation costs being asked for? Then reach out for a system, that limits it's dealings to trailers and in fact, only the rear part of the trailer. Of course, it makes no difference whether it's a trailer or a semi-trailer and what's more, neither a cable- nor a radio-connection is necessary.

It's simply brilliant, from the driver's seat all one has to do is look to the back through the rear-view mirrors, which one usually does when shunting backwards anyhow. The new rear lights are thus planned, that they can judge the distance to an object in the rear and send a suitable signal to the front. It couldn't be easier, could it?

The next system to be described can only be more complex. The most important feature, is the nowadays, rather seldom used, mirror-adjustment. Its rotary-knob has lost its set axis, which means it can mainly be moved to the right, to the left or to the rear (see picture 3). Using this method, one can select the turning-angle of the trailer exactly, this is of course, supported by the display (see above pictures).

The system from ZF, is still something for the future, the driver's seat remains empty. The vehicle is controlled by the responsible person by means of a Smartphone. As long as one touches the screen, the vehicle moves. This is quite reassuring, because the vehicle really does drive autonomously. Choosing the direction of the movement is interesting, because it's not done by pressing buttons but in the typical Smartphone navigation manner. 08/14
