Of the more than 42 million motor cars in Germany at the moment, there are probably less than ten percent fitted with a tow-bar (gooseneck). Thereby, on just about every street corner you can one rent a trailer. DIY- markets even loan them out, sometimes gratis, for a few hours. One can even drive into the markets to load up. The trailer can even be loaded by a fork-lift, without you having to do anything yourself.

Even if the building materials would fit into your boot, you can really protect it by using a trailer. Let's be honest, when transporting this type of load, something almost always goes wrong. Everything is there, also, the vehicles in Germany (e.g., SUVs) are basically very well suited for towing. Indeed, if they don't have a clutch, you're out of luck.

Admittedly, the motor-home (camper) is an attractive alternative to the caravan, particularly as far as the saftey factor is concerned. Nevertheless, if your vehicle fills all the necessary requirements, the renting of a caravan can also be taken into consideration. Think about it, when you arrive at your destination you can, without a great deal of hassle, leave the caravan and go touring with the much more manageable motor car.

Have a look at picture No.2 above. Let's assume you are a self-employed business man and that you own a valuable classic car, which of course, you don't want to drive to the various exhibitions. Why hide this wonderful vehicle in a closed, musty trailer? Why not give other bored drivers on the motorway something to brighten up their day? Perhaps also effectively showing your companies advertising ...

In the meantime, the number of caravans, which are themselves classics, is increasing. If you park your comfortable vehicle in the midst of other similar old treasures, you have a distinct advantage over the owners of classic motor cars. They have to pack a thermos flask and do without refrigerated snacks, you don't. 01/12
