If a car engine is arranged facing forward lengthwise, a pinion/crown wheel combination is used. At this picture the Klingelnberg-gearing is to be seen very precisely. The teeth have lengthwise the same width and the edges always are part of a circle. In contrast to it is the Gleason gearimg which have different width lengthwise and whose edges are part of a spiral. It is somewhat more difficult in the dimensioning/production and occurs therefore more rarely.
